Music Scholarships
Music Scholarships Year 3 – Year 7 entry
Children applying for a Music Scholarship should be prepared to demonstrate outstanding commitment towards the musical life of the school by participating in ensembles, choirs and concerts, and be prepared to set high musical standards amongst their peers. They should demonstrate an enthusiasm for all things musical and expect to make sacrifices in order to practise and pursue their passion. It is likely that children will have reached Grade 3 (ABRSM) on their first instrument; however, a child’s musical potential is of equal, if not greater, importance and will be taken into consideration. During an interview, candidates will be expected to perform two contrasting pieces, scales appropriate to their Grade and discuss their current musical experiences. Candidates are usually expected to sing, and aural and sight reading tests may also be given.
