What is your role at Vinehall?

Year 1 Teacher.

What subject/s do you teach?

Most subjects – my enrichment activity is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

What made you want to become a teacher?

I have always loved encouraging others to progress and develop. I started in sports coaching, but I love teaching all subjects and, after volunteering within a primary school, found that this is where I’m supposed to be.

What do you enjoy most about Vinehall?

The environment! Not just the amazing facilities but the environment within the school that promotes all children to be themselves and find their own passion for learning.

What are you planning that you are most excited about?

Promoting STEM club across Pre-Prep. It is very encouraging to see how well it is received.

What is your best teaching memory?

Last year I showed the children all about Stephen Hawking when he died. We talked about why he is so important and how influential he has been in science. I then showed them a video that compares the size of earth to stars, planets and black holes. The children were captivated and there was an amazing sense of wonder; many of them were talking about this for days.

When you are not in the classroom I am most likely to be …

Playing netball or training for athletics.

Something not many people know about you is …

I competed for Great Britain from the age of 15-17 for Hammer.  I have won gold in the World and Commonwealth Youth Games.
