Role at School:

Assistant Head Academic

Subject:

I currently teach only Maths, but I have previously taught English, Geography, History and IT, as well as Games.

What made you want to become a teacher?

The opportunity to work with children – at a time when there is so much doom and gloom in the world, you can’t help but be optimistic about the future when you work with children.

What do you enjoy most about Vinehall?

The children and the staff make this school a wonderful place to work. There is an incredibly warm atmosphere at Vinehall that should be cherished.

Your most exciting project/trip in the pipeline (if you cannot say please just allude):

Mrs Payne and I are currently organising a trip to the Bay of Naples in October, which should be amazing!

When you are not in the classroom/sports field you are most likely to be:

Outside with my children – growing vegetables, up a tree, camping in our bell tent – anything, so long as it’s outside!

Something not many people know about you is:

My first teaching job was at an international school in Zambia. Every holiday we would pack up the car and head off on safari!

Best teaching memory:

At my first school in Zambia I organised a residential trip to a national park. Taking a group of ten year olds on a walk to find hippos and elephants makes concerns about health and safety in this country seem a little over the top (I wasn’t even asked to complete a risk assessment!)
