The Lent term promises to be just as busy as last term. There are a number of netball, rugby, swimming and hockey fixtures due to take place throughout the term, with a some teams also taking part in various IAPS netball and hockey tournaments.
I would like to remind you that all fixtures and their details can be found on the school’s sports website, accessed via the fixtures and results tab found on the top right of the school website’s home page.
Girls’ Lent Term Sport:
The girls in Year 5 to 8 will be playing netball throughout the term. The girls in Year 3 & 4 will be playing hockey. Please note that they will require a mouthguard, shin pads and a hockey stick.
Boys’ Lent Term Sport:
The boys in Year 3 to 8 will continue with Rugby until week 5 when the hockey season officially starts. Please could I ask that your son has a hockey stick, mouthguard and shin pads in school from next week as we may start to play hockey in our Friday games sessions.
The term starts with every child completing different fitness tests and challenges. The Year 3, 4 and 5s then move into completing their Gymnastics Profiency awards. The Year 6, 7 and 8s will take part in a number of different sports such as Touchball, Badminton, Spikeball and Volleyball.
Please could I ask that your child always has their Vinehall swimming shorts (boys) or Vinehall legged swimsuit (girls), a towel and goggles at school. This is particularly important for galas when the squads come together and represent the school.
The Year 3 and 4 boys and girls swim on alternate Mondays during their games sessions and the Year 5 and 6 boys and girls do the same thing on a Friday.
If the weather does not allow us to train outside we often use the swimming pool as an indoor option. For this reason we ask that all Year 7 & 8s have the correct swimming attire at school at all times.
The Pre-prep will continue to have their games lessons with Zac Atwood. Jon Newman and I will continue to cover gym lessons until further notice and swimming with Derek Guy will take place at the same time. It has been great fun taking the Nursery and Kindergarten and I look forward to another lively lesson next week!
