OUR SCHOOLS SHOULD BE OVERFLOWING WITH MUSIC

Music is a critical aspect of a well-rounded education and offers untold benefits for our children. As Victor Hugo once wrote, ‘music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent’.  Let our children create good noise!

Here are some reasons why music is an integral part of our school curriculum:

Music enhances cognitive development. Numerous studies have shown that music can improve children’s memory, language skills and ability to concentrate.  These skills are essential for success in all areas of life.

Music promotes emotional and social development. Music can foster a sense of community and helps children to express themselves emotionally, all leading to better mental health and social skills. Music also builds cultural awareness, providing children with exposure to new cultures and global perspectives.

Music encourages creativity. Music in education encourages children to think creatively and imaginatively, skills that are vital in all areas of life.

Music improves academic performance. There is ample research to show that children involved in music tend to perform better in subjects such as maths, science and languages.

What is there not to sing about!?
