Welcome to Pupils from Overseas

Set in 47 acres of parkland on the East Sussex/Kent border, Vinehall School nurtures and educates boys and girls aged 2 to 13.

00217We have a long tradition of providing an outstanding education and exceptional opportunities for personal development for day and boarding pupils, with highly qualified teachers and staff providing fantastic pastoral care.

All pupils at Vinehall School enjoy use of our excellent facilities including our recently refurbished theatre, music rooms, indoor swimming pool, sports fields, outdoor learning and play areas and woodlands.

Vinehall has a well-deserved reputation for helping all pupils to achieve their potential in academics, the arts, sports and other interests.

00342We have a 100% pass rate at Common Entrance, a high Scholarship success rate, an orchestra, a thriving drama department and tremendous results on the sports field against other schools locally and in the National Prep School championships.

For parents unable to do the school-run themselves, our minibuses for day pupils and flexi-boarders provide a convenient alternative transport service from Cranbrook, Heathfield, Wadhurst, Eastbourne, Mayfield and Hastings.

For our weekly and full-time boarders we are well connected by road, rail and air to the region, London and London airports (including Gatwick, Heathrow, London City and Stansted).

Boarding at Vinehall

“Boarding is outstanding in every category” (ISI Boarding Inspection Report January 2015)

The boarding house at Vinehall School is run very much as an extended family.

Vinehall School, July 2012, 243Located upstairs and within the heart of the main school, the Housemistress, Quelli Coles lives in the middle of the boarding house with her husband Gideon (who is also the weekend Housemaster) and Woody the dog.

Alongside the housemistress’ flat, there are the dormitories and washrooms, the School Nurse, Dispensary and SANS, the laundry (there is a full laundry service for all boarders), boarding house office and a large sunny common room.

Vinehall has a well-established boarding community of boys and girls.

The majority of older pupils at Vinehall choose to board.

Vinehall School, July 2012, 196Boarding is either full or weekly and for full boarders there are regular exeat weekend breaks every two or three weeks.

Boarders can always go out for special occasions e.g. a family birthday.

Most boarders describe the weekends at Vinehall as the highlight of their week with a wide range of trips and activities on offer.

On week nights there is a growing community of Junior boarders (Years 3 – 6) and temporary ‘temp’ boarders (Years 3 – 7).

While the majority of our boarders live within London and the region, a number of our boarders are from other areas in the UK or from abroad.

Vinehall School, July 2012, 229For families from further afield, including those living overseas, boarding at Vinehall is made as easy as possible.

We organise transport to and from airports and offer an escort on the train to and from London at exeats and holidays.

Matrons can provide a special packing service and can also arrange for any boarder needing haircuts, new shoes, dental appointments or extra storage over the holidays.

Children can contact their parents by email, on Skype, or in the evenings on their own mobile phones, in addition to the traditional weekly letter home.

Individual and small group lessons in English are offered to children for whom English is not a first language.
