In Years 7 and 8, pupils are prepared for Common Entrance, local grammar school entrance and scholarship entrance to a variety of independent senior schools at 13+. We regularly send children to Ardingly, Battle Abbey, Benenden, Brighton College, Charterhouse, Cranbrook, Eastbourne College, Eton, Hurstpierpoint, King’s Canterbury, Sevenoaks, Bede’s, St Leonards- Mayfield, Tonbridge, Winchester and Worth. A summary of the destinations of Year 8 leavers in recent years is available for download below.
We work very closely with parents to ensure all children move on to their preferred destination at 13+. Our Assistant Head Academic, Paul Borrows, has special responsibility for helping parents with senior school choices and he meets all parents on an individual basis to discuss options for their child. Our aim is to guide parents in their decision making process to ensure that every child is matched to the right school in overall terms. i.e. academic, social, ethos, sporting, creative and performing arts.
Every two years we hold a Future Schools’ Evening at Vinehall, to which we invite Heads and/or their senior representatives from all our destination schools. This is a rare opportunity for our parents to meet and talk with fifteen to twenty senior schools all assembled under one roof!
We have now launched our Future Schools web page where we aim to gather prospectuses in one place to help you make an informed choice on the next school for your child. Click here for the link
