The most wonderful coastal geography is happening right on our doorstep…
So, Year 7 just had to get out of the classroom to see it first hand.

Not only does Broomhill Sands offer the perfect beach for studying Longshore Drift, but the coastal defence project also offers the children the perfect case study for both soft and hard coastal engineering.

As we were measuring our pebbles and looking at layered beach profile that the winter waves had moulded, we were fortunate enough to see the Environment Agency at work. Their diggers and dumpers set about shifting the lost sand and shingle back along the coast from Camber.

The weather was quite superb, creating a Geography teacher’s dream classroom.
