Isla Mc, 6T, holds a copy of her poem ‘The Potion’ which won first prize in a poetry competition run by the prestigious Ginger and Pickle bookshop in the heart of Edinburgh, home to many poets and writers of distinction.  Isla’s poem tells of a sinister and scheming witch whose deadly potions wreak havoc on all who are unfortunate enough to encounter them! Here is a just a snippet of the whole poem:

The witch gets on her broomstick and up she flies,

Maybe she is trying to poison the skies.

But no, below her is an unfortunate enemy,

He’s her first victim; the witch has her opportunity.’
