It was an exciting start to Week 4 with the launch of Recycle Week UK. Our friends in the Pre-Prep hosted their assembly on Monday morning and heard many inspiring speeches about the ways in which the children felt empowered as ‘eco-warriors’.

The Prep school enjoyed an engaging assembly where our recycling knowledge was put to the test. It turned out that the children whose names were ‘randomly selected’ by teachers in the assembly were in fact the newly appointed Eco Committee members! Did you know that recycled plastic can be used to make not only traffic cones but also carpets and fleece jackets? That question generated some great discussions and debates.

The Eco Committee happily gathered for their first meeting on Wednesday morning and they took on their Recycle Week challenge with gusto: to find out if each classroom has a recycling bin and a scrap paper tray. Results to follow!

We are looking forward to the year ahead and to working collaboratively like dedicated Billy Bees to introduce sustainable initiatives here at Vinehall School.

This year’s Eco Committee members are: Arya E, Coralie F, Oliver G, Lyla B, George B, Alexandra C, Rhiain E, Seren K, Frankie F, Honor H, Albert M, Poppy O, Alex D, Theo E, Ethan E, Isla Mc, Elizabeth O, Matilda S, Camilla B, Polly S, and Ms Linney.
