The thematic curriculum gives the pupils an opportunity to explore every aspect of a topic.
The Year 7 pupils are currently looking at how artists adapt during times of change. They are studying the work of the war artist Paul Nash and his brother John Nash.
Paul Nash’s landscapes changed dramatically during World War II, as a result of his service during both wars. In response to Nash’s work, the Year 7 pupils are comparing and contrasting picturesque views with symbolic war-torn landscapes. They have started by drawing our beautiful view from the front lawn by using a large viewfinder, selecting their vantage point and drawing the contours of each layer as accurately as possible.
