Six months ago, when the idea of the Year 8s hosting a charity fair was suggested, I envisaged bright sunshine, blue skies and birdsong. Instead, the great British weather forgot to play ball and we were greeted with wintry showers and a fresh to brisk breeze off the valley!

The weather did not perturb the young budding entrepreneurs one bit and they went about their business like seasoned veterans at a Sunday market!

It was fair to say (boom, boom) that there was a common theme of throwing, shooting and beating across the stalls, with one (yes, just one) stall requiring the punters to use a bit of their grey matter to win a prize. As you may have heard, the prizes were pretty much all sugar based (sorry), which went down very well with the excitable customers. Smiles and laughter throughout the morning as all the pupils spent their hard-earned pocket money for a good cause.

A fabulous morning was had by all and the Year 8s must be congratulated on raising an amazing £307 pounds! A great effort and an event that is sure to stay in the calendar for years to come.
