On the birthday of Alan Turing, six Year 5s had the opportunity to crack some cunning codes and decipher some less known linguistic translations on a virtual Maths challenge run the famous mathematician’s former school, Sherborne.

We were pitted against 12 other Prep schools. The children’s favourite activities were working out some Abma phrases (spoken by 8,000 in Vanuatu), and some shifting code patterns. Well done to the ‘Valent Vinehall’ team of Isla Mc, Edward M and Max C and to the ‘Vinehall Victors’ team of Yoshi C, Ethan E and Miles F. We look forward to receiving the results very soon.
