We are delighted to be in a position where we can announce that, subject to ratification, Vinehall will be joining with one of the foremost senior schools in the country, by becoming part of the Repton family of schools from September 2021.

Headmaster of Repton School, Mark Semmence, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Vinehall into the Repton family, subject to final agreement. Vinehall shares our outward-looking, forward-thinking philosophy of how to give children the very best chances in the world that awaits them. We are not looking for Vinehall to become a feeder school for Repton because geography has no part to play in this merger; like-mindedness does.”

Repton Chair of Governors, Mark Shires, added: “Many mergers are happening now between senior and prep schools in the independent sector. These mergers often bring security in volatile times as well as sensible efficiencies in the operational running of ever more complex schools. They also allow the sharing of resources and best practice, so that pupils can benefit from the latest educational thinking and enhanced facilities.”

Headmaster of Vinehall, Joff Powis, says the two schools have a shared educational and pastoral ethos, commenting: “Vinehall will continue its role as an outstanding day and boarding co-educational prep school, secure in a bright and exciting future. Together we will continue to provide the exemplary educational vision and pastoral care for which Vinehall has such a strong reputation. Vinehall’s pupils will benefit hugely from collaboration with specialists within the Repton family of schools, broadening horizons both academically and in co-curricular activities of all kinds. Enhanced training and development opportunities will help us maintain the quality of our staff body, and shared use of resources will promote operational efficiencies.”

Vinehall Chair of Governors, John Giles, added: “Above all, offering outstanding educational opportunities to our children remains our common core purpose. Vinehall will maintain its identity and traditions whilst joining a family that values each individual, nurturing talent to develop happy, resilient, self-motivated and confident young people. We firmly believe that this will be a forward-thinking and in many ways ground-breaking move.”
