A Piece of Cake

Year 4 have been looking at the work of the pop artist Wayne Theibaud. They each created a slice of cake to celebrate being back at school and being part of a whole.

Most of the pupils created a theme for their cake and a few teamed up with a friend.

In the course of the lesson, the pupils reinforced their knowledge of fractions, realising that their slice represented an eighth of the cake.

Although the cake slices are constructed from mod roc and cardboard, they look very realistic but should not be confused entirely with the real thing!

Fabulous Felting

Landscape is the keyword for Year 5 this term. The process of felting lends itself to the blending and layering of colours.  The Year 5 pupils experimented with the layering and fusing of colours to create rich textures.
