It was the perfect day to practise our bearings work outside and it linked beautifully with Earth day to see how bearings work in real life and how they are most often used in walks in nature.  Once North was established, the pairs found out why the North line was so essential to measuring and estimating the bearings of different features of the school site. We created bearing diagrams on the ground with chalk and found that even moving slightly in location altered the bearing of a particular place. We then finished the lesson with a walk to some of our golf posts and estimated the bearings between them.
