Year 6 were tasked with thinking about the theme of “fear” when towards the end of our class reader, ‘The Borrowers’, the ceiling is unceremoniously lifted off to reveal the little people’s home beneath the floorboards.  They were asked to write a poem in the shape of something fearful and there were many imaginative contributions.  We talked about shape poems and how they are called “calligrammes” and first made popular by the French poet, Guillaume Appolinaire.
