This half term in Life Skills lessons Years 3-6 are looking at different aspects of being online. ‘Lee and Kim’ will help Year 3 understand about personal information, whilst Year 4 are finding out what they should or shouldn’t share with ‘Alfie, Sam and Ellie’.

These characters are all from the Thinkuknow series and help our children consider their online behaviour, which is crucial at this time of remote learning.

Year 5 are learning how to ‘Be Internet Legends’; are they oversharing information and how can they protect their information?

Finally Year 6 are using the Childnet resources to think critically about what they see online; can they trust everything that they read and what are people’s motives when putting things online?

Not being in the classroom has meant they have had some long videos from Mrs Payne and it is pretty hard to have our discussions, but I have had some good feedback from the children via Teams.

If you need further advice about what apps your children might be using on their phones or devices, a really good website is Netaware by the NSPCC. It lets you type the name of the app (eg Houseparty, TikTok etc) and it will tell you the age rating, the security issues and give honest, reliable information.
