During half term, the Vinehall Equestrian team had a very successful day at the NSEA Inter-Schools Eventers Challenge Competition Qualifier at Petley Wood. An Eventers Challenge Competition is a course of show jumping and arena cross country fences; the aim is to jump a clear round in an optimum time.
This competition was a qualifier for the NSEA Eventers Challenge Championships, which take place in the May half term at the hallowed turf of the All England Jumping Course, Hickstead. These competitions are always well attended and Vinehall was represented by Grace W, May A and Willow A, who competed as a team as well as individuals in the 75cm class.
May on Solly, as a trailblazer, jumped a lovely clear round; this was followed by an amazing flowing clear round by Grace on Poppy. A third clear from Willow on Fat Pony meant that the team took first place overall, ensuring their ticket to Hickstead. May won the individual part of the competition with Willow coming 2nd.
Willow and May then represented Vinehall in the 85cm class, resulting in a surprise win for May and Superstar Solly, who were only two seconds under the optimum time. Sixth place went to Willow and cheeky Fat Pony, who got the wind under his tail and was a bit too speedy this time!
Willow and Fat Pony then jumped in the 95cm class, which was a new height in competition for them, and achieved an excellent 2nd place overall.
This was certainly a day to remember, finishing with tickets to Hickstead all round. We are exceptionally proud of all three girls, who performed amazingly well under pressure and thoroughly enjoyed the buzz and camaraderie.
There are a number of other competitions coming up, so if you are interested in joining our team please email our manager on email@example.com.
