Reception completed their first ever school trip this week. Despite the weather, we had a wonderful time taking the train to Hastings to visit the library. We bought our train tickets from Maggie at Robertsbridge station, who kindly showed us around the ticket office before we got on the train.
Once we arrived at Hastings we walked down through the town to the library, where Elaine met us and read us lots of stories and fairytales. The children loved hearing old favourites, such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, as well as discovering new tales such as ‘Foggy Foggy Forrest’ by Nick Sharratt. Elaine explained how the library worked as well as showing us how to check out our books using the self-service machine.
The children walked beautifully back to the station and one of the drivers told us a little about driving a train. Lots of clever Cassie Cat questions were asked before we arrived back in Robertsbridge.
We had a lovely day and the children behaved impeccably. Thank you to all the helpers and those we met on our way who helped to make the day so great and informative.
