We were delighted to return to school and receive news that not one, but two of our children had been growing their hair with the purpose of helping others.
Over the Christmas break Elizabeth G and Zara S had large amounts of their lovely long hair cut short. Both girls donated their hair to the Little Princess Trust who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. Elizabeth was presented with her merit badge in Wednesday’s assembly and Zara will be awarded on Monday.
Elizabeth also took the opportunity to fundraise money in support of Cancer Research and has raised a wonderful £950.00 so far.
A huge well done to both girls, Pro Allis Optimum Agere indeed! Here is a message from Elizabeth:
“I hope everyone had a good Christmas. You may remember from my note in a Christmas card that I have been fundraising for Cancer Research? Well, yesterday I had my hair cut for charity. It went really well and I now have a foot of hair to donate for making wigs 🙂 Thank you so much for your support. It really helped me to go through with the haircut. I have uploaded some photos of the event on my justgiving page:
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to Cancer Research. Thanks to your generosity I have raised £640 so far which is fantastic! It means so much to me and Cancer Research. My page will stay open for a while longer in case anyone else would like to donate.”
