The aim of the Friends of Vinehall is two-fold – to host and support the social events that make up the Vinehall community and to raise money to support the school’s “wish list”, Rwanda Aid and local charities.

The FOV committee is a friendly group of parents who meet once a half term to plan the festivities that will take place that term.  Class Representatives support us with these and play a vital role in introducing new parents to life at Vinehall.

In the past year the FOV and Class Reps have helped to organise a huge number of events including our 80th Anniversary Ball, Fireworks evening, Secrets Room shop, Christmas Collection, Burns Night, Pancake Races, Hamper Raffle, Easter Celebrations, Vinefest and the Vines’ Day Fete. We also slid a couple of social picnics into the diary as an opportunity for parents and children to socialise.

We are extremely grateful for the help and support of our parents, children and extended family members who come together to ensure these events are so successful.

At the start of the year, the committee decided to split the previous year’s funds between the school wish list, Rwanda Aid and local charities suggested by parents.  For 2017-2018, the chosen charities were Hands of Hope, Children with Cancer, Children’s Respite Trust, St Michaels Hospice, Baby Basics and the Women’s Refuge.

Our wish list donations helped to provide the following items for the school: fleece “chill” blankets for the Boarding House; Swim Squad hats; Netflix subscription for the Boarding House; face paints for Pre-Prep; hand bells for the music department; a hockey pitch divider; sand and water table for the Pre-Prep; a TV screen for the sports hall; and money was allocated to redevelop the De Beer garden.

The £10,000 that was raised last year will be donated to the “Wish List”, Rwanda Aid and Dom’s Food Mission.
