The last few weeks have been very busy indeed for the Friends of Vinehall and their ever supportive Class Reps.

Following a request from Mr Powis to hold an end of anniversary year celebration, it was decided to put on the very first “VineFest” at the end of Sports Day. After the recent heavy rain we were all thankful that the sun shone and so many families from all areas of the school came together to enjoy the music and festival atmosphere. Whilst this was the first ever Vinefest, we have a feeling it won’t be the last. Who knows, next year we may have some campers in the grounds!

There was barely enough time to pack away the glitter and foam before preparations started for our Vines’ Day. With Rita Galloway heading up a hard-working team of “volunteers”, it seemed as though stalls appeared out of nowhere and the front lawn was transformed into the quintessential British Fete.

Children were soon heard exclaiming over the sweetie tombola (always a winner), donkey rides (a new, firm favourite) and of course stalls such as Splat the Rat, face painting, bouncy castle and candy floss. However, we have never seen as much excitement as when the tannoy announced that none other than Mr Powis would be in the stocks at 4.30pm. To say there was a queue was an understatement – even longer than when Mrs Alderson had taken her slot earlier in the day.

Ultimately events such as these can be achieved only with the unwavering support of our FOV and Class reps; we are hugely grateful for the time and energy that is given to ensure the children have such wonderful memories.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen Soan and Alison Hollingsworth for their hard work and support over the years. We wish you well as your children leave to go on to senior schools.

Thank you all.
