On Monday Year 3 spent a glorious morning on the beach at Pett, led by a local geologist, Ken Brooks.  The children were held spellbound as they watched him hammer bone bed they had found themselves, to discover fossilised shark’s teeth, fish eyes and bivalves.  They learnt that dinosaurs had roamed these areas millions of years ago.  Once the tide had gone out and exposed a sunken forest, they followed him as he showed them ancient trees buried in the sands, from five thousand years ago.  Such a wealth of history right under our feet.  None of us wanted to leave!

If you are interested in exploring the local area more, do look online for Mr Brooks’ details about other excursions that he does.
