WOW! The Year 1 children made fantastic Pirates on Thursday; if we only had a boat to sail!  We started the day by singing sea shanties and creating our own verses. The children also created their own giant treasure maps to programme the Blue-Bots.

Ships Ahoy! In STEM club we also evaluated and improved our boat designs made from recycled materials.  We then tested our boats on the big pond and this time all of our boats floated. This week has been national STEM Clubs week so we entered out investigation and a photo into a STEM club competition and won!  Hooray!  The children were all very proud to find out they had won and will help to choose how to spend the voucher on STEM resources.

In the afternoon Year 1 welcomed the children’s families into class to share their work and sing them a sea shanty which the children had written.  We then all proceeded to the hall to play a game of scrub the deck, which both the children and adults enjoyed!
