IAPS National Gymnastics Championships 2018


Last weekend the U13, U11, U10 & U9 teams travelled to Kent College Pembury, to compete in the 2018 IAPS National Gymnastics Championships.  There were over 300 gymnasts taking part in this annual event.  The gymnasts competed individually on floor and vault and the U13 & U11 teams also performed a floor routine in the group sequence competition.


The Under 13 team of Willow A, Millie D, Freda H, Lara S and Charlotte W gave outstanding performances on their individual pieces.  The girls all achieved creditable scores on their individual competition pieces securing 2nd place overall in the team event.  They also received medals for 2nd place in the group sequence competition.


Charlotte did particularly well, achieving a fantastic score of 35.90 for her combined vault and floor scores.  She came 4th on floor and 1st overall on vault winning the cup for the highest scoring U13 vault.  Charlotte was placed 2nd overall for her combined scores.


Milly also did very well individually; she came 7th on vault, 6th on floor and was awarded a 6th place medal for her combined vault and floor scores.  Freda was very close behind, achieving 7th position overall.


The U11 team of Daisy F, Francesca F, Delilah G, Ottoline G, and Olivia S showed great confidence and precision in their performances.  Daisy had the highest voluntary vault score for the team and Delilah the highest set vault.  Francesca F did particularly well and was the top scoring gymnast for the U11s, with a total of 32.50.  She also achieved 6th place overall for her combined floor scores.  Olivia was close behind in 9th place.


In the U10 age group May A, Molly P, Polly S, Harriet W and Imogen W gave sound performances on floor and vault.  Imogen W came top of the team, scoring a total of 32.10 and achieving 18th position overall.  May had the top score for Vinehall on voluntary vault.


In the U9 team Sophia D, Maisie G, Elizabeth H, Felicity M, Lucy P and Jemima S all performed to the best of their ability and with great maturity for their very young age. The team were placed 6th overall in the team event and were very excited when they were awarded their medals. .


Lucy P did very well on voluntary vault; she was placed 3rd overall.  Felicity M also had a particularly good competition as she came 4th on voluntary vault and, with an overall score of 33. 45, was placed 7th overall in the individual competition for her combined vault and floor scores.  Maisie G had the second highest overall score for the Vinehall team.


Very well done to all the gymnasts, you are a real credit to Vinehall School
