After setting off from Vinehall for an early start at Eastbourne College, we arrived ready and eager to play hockey in the lovely warm sunshine.  We played in the group stages, with two 0-0 draws against Cumnor and St Teresa’s, and a loss of 0-3 to Holmewood.

However, after some lunch we went to play for the plate against St Andrew’s.  Earlier in the season we lost to them 0-8; however, if there was ever a reflection of the progress this team has made, it was shown in this match.  The girls were the stronger team and constantly attacked, resulting in winning 1-0 with a goal from Olivia S.

Through to the semi-finals against Hilden Oaks, we were once again the stronger side but could not manage to score.  This resulted in penalty strokes and the opposition winning 2-1.

The team then had to play Skippers Hill for 3rd place.  We were evenly-matched, although we did have a few chances at goal.  It looked to go to penalty corners again but Skippers Hill managed to score in the last minute to win the match and take 3rd place.  The team should be proud of themselves.  There was some excellent play and a special mention to Olivia H who was our amazing goalkeeper.
