Year 3 ‘stepped back in time’ on Tuesday this week and travelled all the way to Battle Abbey where they were met at the front door by a kindly monk called Brother James.

Brother James talked about the Battle of Hastings, which was fought on 14th October 1066 between the Norman-French army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Anglo-Saxon King Harold Godwinson, beginning the Norman conquest of England.

The children looked at the helmets, shields, weaponry and chain mail from that time and when they got back to school they designed their own shields which are now displayed in the corridor in the De Beer block.
