Year 6 had an unusual experience on Tuesday – sitting in on an “arti”, a Hindu service in which statues of gods are blessed. The service was in the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a magnificent, intricately carved white marble temple in London. We all learned a lot from being at the service, as well as having a video and a talk and visiting an exhibition about the history of Hinduism. A few interesting purchases were made in the mandir’s shop, too!
Our journey both ways encountered traffic jams, but luckily we had just enough time to stop off at Bedgebury Pinetum on the way back for an ice cream by the lake.
Thank you to Miss de Havilland, Miss Vane-Tempest and Mr Kellick for accompanying us – and to Year 6 for being such good company!
