Over the half term the Vinehall Equestrian team took part in the NSEA Arena Eventing Challenge.
They were entered in both the 85cm and 75cm (Team) events.
In the 85cm class over 60 competitors took part with Taw A competing for Vinehall against mainly senior schools. The class is a 2 phase competition, where the riders have to gauge the speed they go over 18 jumps of first a show jumping course then a simulated cross-country course. The one that wins is the one who comes closest to the optimum time without penalties.
We were delighted to hear that Taw and Solly won the class overall with a time of just 0.25 seconds off the optimum. By winning this competition Taw and Solly have qualified to represent Vinehall at the NSEA Summer Eventers Challenge National Finals in May, which is being held on the hallowed grass at Hickstead.
In the 75cm team event, Taw was joined by Oliver L and Willow A. Oliver rode a lovely round but sadly it wasn’t Willow’s day, with the ‘Loonicorn’ being a bit cheeky at the penultimate fence! She took it with good grace – and the team were placed 5th overall.
A huge well done to all the riders for their commitment and achievement.
