Our Reception class enjoyed an excursion to Hastings by train from Robertsbridge station, and back again!

This was a wonderful opportunity to develop the Transport theme the children have been working on and they were all very excited to learn what the conductor does and some even had a go at stamping the tickets.  At Hastings, the children visited the ticket office to see how the trains were run!

During the journeys, a tally chart was taken showing all of the things spotted including tunnels, bridges and horses (or possibly large sheep).  This information will be carried over into their maths work and we understand that a poem about the journey is also in the pipeline!  Cross-curricular indeed!

Unsurprisingly the stop for hot chocolate proved to be a great success.
