We were extremely privileged to welcome Jeremy James Taylor OBE to deliver drama workshops to all children from Year 3-7 and our four drama scholar hopefuls in Year 8.
Jeremy was the founder of the National Youth Music Theatre and has directed more than 300 productions during his distinguished career, writing many of them specifically for young people.
Every group enjoyed a wonderful hour of fun which focused on teamwork, listening, reacting, improvising, concentration, creativity and imagery. The children planned and performed their own hysterical short operas and devised stories including the four elements of fire, water, air and earth. Who knew that Louis D is actually a famous poet writing in Mandarin, that Harry G is his translator and Year 7 his dancing performers? Who would guess that Joe P writes about chickens disappearing into black holes?
I was delighted by the children’s enthusiasm and imagination and I am sure they benefited enormously from such an exciting visit.
