On Tuesday 21st March 2017 the senior drama club invited relatives and friends to join them for the last workshop session of the term. During Lent we enjoyed a huge variety of drama games and exercises designed to encourage creativity, to develop physical theatre skills and to improve voice work, improvisation and mime. The children have worked very hard and I hope they have enjoyed the process. We have used the stories of Little Red Riding Hood and Arabian Nights as foci for the exercises. Drama workshops are an important part of the scholarship assessment process for senior schools, as well as auditions for youth groups. It is essential that participants throw themselves into all activities with enthusiasm, without inhibition and showing real flair; they have to learn to convey their ideas, whilst also being generous and inclusive of all the performers. Pupils from Years 6, 7 and 8 have been wonderfully creative, and our record-breaking success at scholarship this year (7!!) is testament to the efforts and talents of the Year 8s.
