Over the last few weeks we have had the pleasure of congratulating a huge number of Year 8 children on gaining their scholarships and places at senior schools. In fact the list is longer and started last term with Emily Payne and Imogen Cleary being awarded Music Scholarships to Mayfield School. Imogen was also awarded an Academic Scholarship, a double success she repeated this week at Benenden School with Music and Academic Scholarships there too! Christina Lahiri also performed creditably, gaining her place at Benenden but narrowly missing out on an Academic award. Over at Bede’s School, Harry Johnson’s Design Technology Scholarship submission was highly impressive and earned him the award he deserved, and Thomas Haffenden was also successful with his Drama Scholarship application.

Thomas followed in Imogen’s footsteps and doubled up with a Drama Scholarship to Battle Abbey School too, and his success there was joined by Morgan Smith with an All Rounder Scholarship for his Academics and Performing Arts, Emily Payne (a second Music Scholarship) Daniel Jones with the top Drama Scholarship. Georgina Soan also excelled with a double scholarship for Music and Art and I was delighted to report to Dhani Lynch, Annique Convert and Harry Johnson that they had all been successful in their entrance exams. Finally, news came through that Fenella Green was highly impressive in her assessments at Eastbourne College and has been awarded a Drama Scholarship there, and Zara Fish has also been awarded a Drama Scholarship to King’s Canterbury. What a hugely talented Year 8 group they are! Congratulations to them all, and also all the teachers who have supported them in their preparations over the last few years.
