At the start of the half term holiday, three pupils from Vinehall attended the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) grassroots show jumping competition at Crockstead Equestrian Centre in East Sussex. This was their first event competing for the School.

The pupils, Oliver Levy, Taw Ainslie and Willow Ainslie finished in an outstanding 3rd place in the 40 cm class, which is judged on style and accuracy.

However, they then went on to compete in the 50cm class which was judged on speed and accuracy, and surprised everyone by winning this event outright! The pupils who were significantly younger than the other 15 teams taking part in the competition were obviously delighted with the results. Other schools participating included Brambletye, Ashdown House and Claremont.

Individually, Taw Ainslie was placed 5th which was a superb result considering he beat about 50 other riders to this position. The Vinehall victory was made all the more impressive as the team only had three riders, whereas most other teams had four which meant they could use their best three scores.

Following the success of the first Vinehall Equestrian Team, they have qualified for the Grass Roots Finals in both 40 and 50cm classes, which takes place on 22 November in Horsham, West Sussex.
