Great Britain Olympic rower Beth Rodford visited Vinehall on Wednesday and Thursday this week. During her visit she ate supper with the boarders and enjoyed a rowing training session on the Vinehall ergometers, and on Thursday morning led an extended assembly for the whole school. As part of the assembly, Beth brought an Olympic torch and a variety of kit items from the London 2012 Games, at which she was a competitor in the GB Womens’ Quadruple Scull, finishing in 6th place.

Two-time Olympian and 2010 World Champion, Beth thrilled the school with an informative and inspirational talk about what it takes to get into the Olympic Team, the training and dedication required and the similarities between this and school work. At the end of the assembly, Beth stayed for an extended autograph signing session, as well as numerous photos with the pupils. On Monday Beth starts her training for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
