After a very successful athletics season, which saw Vinehall athletes perform at local and county levels, the National Championships at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham was the venue for their most outstanding results. Pupils Dominic Sassone, Tommy Forder, Morgan Smith and Zac Nwogwugwu won the IAPS National Finals for the Under 12 boys’ relay team and Zac was also third in the individual 100m. George Pool successfully defended last year’s victory in the U13 Boys’ 1500m. Vinehall were proud to have pupils representing Sussex at the National Finals in six other events: Boys’ U14 Hurdles (4th place), Boys’ U12 Discus (4th place), Girls’ U14 long jump (8th place), Girls’ U14 1500m (15th place), Girls’ U12 200m and Girls’ U12 relay. Team coaches Jon Newman and Nick Butcher were delighted with this on-going success in athletics at both county and national levels.
